I have been a member of Army Knowledge Online for over seven years. Due to the fact that most soldiers would not complete my survey, I personally sent it to five soldiers that I know. Each one of them have been using the site for at least over five years. All of them have been deployed and had to use the site while overseas. The main theme of my survey is how the site performed for the soldiers in a deployment setting. The three surveys that I have received were very informative. Two of the soldiers had minor difficulties with the performance of the site while in Iraq. The other soldier had a good bit of trouble with the site loading while in Afghanistan. All three soldiers complained that the size of the site slowed down the performance.
I made quite a few observations about the site. Only one was related to the slow speed due too the size of the site. They were in a location that did not offer high-speed internet. They were very understanding about the problem. Another soldier made a comment on the problem and he was not to understanding. He disagreed with the soldier and stated that the Army is responsible for providing high-speed internet to all soldiers.
