Andrew McKone-
I really am having a hard time finding and response other than stupidity. I do think that it's possible to approach this as just looking at the trend of non-response and maybe research what makes people so numb to answering questions. Think about when even someone is paid to answer research questions people are hesitant because we're afraid to look stupid. So I think it would be wise to look at what grabs humans attention and what environment allows us to feel safe, and not like we are waiting for someone to make fun of us. People have this urge even when it's not face to face and it's just through email.
So i looked at the trend of random friends and profiles on menshealth forums and watched to see what they post on walls and other post in the forums. There were some trends along the same lines of what they normally say (cliche things) and some were random and a little out of the ordinary showing that they really did feel something and truly wanted to say what they said. If any of this makes sense. (People watching in an unbiased setting is a great way for me to feel my way through this next paper!
